Tailgate Concert Series, New Location For Tiger Walk Among Changes
COLUMBIA, Mo. – With kick-off to Mizzou's 127th football just eight days away, Tiger fans should take note of six initiatives being introduced at Faurot Field/Memorial Stadium beginning with the Sept. 2 season-opener against Missouri State in order to make their game-day experience more enjoyable and safer.
"Since the end of last season we have evaluated every aspect of our game-days in order to provide an improved experience for Mizzou fans in 2017," said Mizzou Senior Associate Athletics Director for Marketing & Revenue Generation Jay Luksis. "Our goal is to provide a vibrant atmosphere in and around Memorial Stadium, and we are hopeful that our fans will embrace the many changes being made this year."
One of the biggest changes for the 2017 season involves the Tiger Walk location, which has now moved to an area where more fans can experience the pregame tradition as the team enters the stadium approximately 2.5 hours before kickoff. Mizzou will now enter Champions Drive from Stadium Blvd. and drive along Champions Drive and come to a stop at Mick Deaver Memorial Drive. The Tigers will depart from the busses and walk down Mick Deaver with spirit squads and Mini Mizzou to enter the south side of Memorial Stadium.
Among other new initiatives being introduced this fall is the Southeastern Conference's league-wide implementation of a unified clear bag policy. Only approved clear bags will be allowed in Memorial Stadium this season, and Tiger fans can find out more information on this policy at mutigers.com/beclear.
Tiger Town will offer one of the nation's best pre-game experiences, complete with the Tailgate Concert Series. Tiger Town's location, which has moved to the east side of Memorial Stadium on Mick Deaver Memorial Drive, will feature a kids zone with inflatables and face painting, autograph sessions with various Mizzou teams and celebrities, and vendors thru Mizzou Sports Properties serving food and beer.
In addition, Tiger Town will also be the site of the new Tailgate Concert Series which will take place on the lawn in front of the Hearnes Center just to the south of Lot J. Each game will feature a different live concert that starts 2 hours prior to kickoff. All concerts and the biggest new addition will be the Tailgate Concert Series that takes place in the lawn in front of The Hearnes Center just to the south of Lot J. Each game will feature a live concert that starts 2 hours prior to kickoff. There is no admission charge for Tiger Town or the concert.
Acts scheduled to play at the 2017 Tailgate Concert Series include:
- Sept. 2 vs. Missouri State – Ocean Park Standoff
- Sept. 9 vs. South Carolina -- Lauren Jenkins
- Sept. 16 vs. Purdue – Wilder
- Sept. 23 vs. Auburn -- David Nail
- Oct. 21 vs. Idaho -- Gin Blossoms
- Nov. 4 vs. Florida -- Josh Abbott Band
- Nov. 11 vs. Tennessee -- Shane Smith and The Saints
With the new Tiger Town location, Mick Deaver Memorial Drive will now be closed on game-days from the intersection of Mick Deaver Memorial Drive and Champions Drive up to the entrance to Parking Lot J. Fans with J Lot parking passes will be able to enter the lot off Stadium Blvd. Mick Deaver Memorial Drive will open for post-game traffic flow.
Mizzou Athletics has partnered with BlockParty Tailgate rentals to offer Tiger fans a variety of turn-key tailgate packages to choose from this football season. Fans who purchase tailgate packages through BlockParty will be ensured of reserved locations for each concert near the concert stage located between the Hearnes Center and Truman's Terrace.
Tailgate tent packages at Missouri will begin at $450 for a 10' x 10' high-peak tailgate tent setup at a premium reserved tailgate location near the stadium. Full-scale packages include premium lounge furniture, high-end coolers with ice, high-top tables, tables for food and drink, and access to the bellhop service with ability to add on a fan and a media package with HD satellite service and integrated sound bar, for the ultimate game day experience.

Game-day programs produced by Mizzou Sports Properties and Mizzou Athletics will be free of charge to fans this season and will be available throughout the stadium. The size of this year's program has changed to that of a playbill, however, all of the game-day content Tiger fans need for the game will still be included in the 76-page booklet.
Kick-off for Mizzou's season-opener against Missouri State is set for 11 a.m. and the game will be televised on the SEC Network. Tailgate parking lots will open at 7 a.m. for the first meeting between the in-state schools since 1923.
