Rising senior Tiger plays in prestigious event in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES - Senior Hayden Buckley (Belden, Miss.) took Mizzou Men's Golf to an international level with his qualification and play at the prestigious U.S. Amateur, held Aug. 14-20 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., and the Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif.
Coming over off yet another season as a steady contributor to the Tigers' starting lineup, Buckley advanced to match play at the event with rounds of 71 and 70 to tie for 29th, individually.
In its 117th year, the U.S. Amateur saw Buckley and other competitors open the event with stroke play on Monday, Aug. 14, and Tuesday, Aug. 15, between The Riviera Country Club and the Bel-Air Country Club. After the 36 holes of stroke play, Buckley was one of 64 players to move onward to match play at the time-honored event.
