Four Black & Gold programs earn praise from NCAA for strong academic performance
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Four Mizzou Athletics programs were recognized by the NCAA for outstanding work in the classroom on Wednesday as the national offices handed out honors for academic progress rating (APR) relative to the 2015-16 academic year. The following Mizzou programs earned perfect APR scores of 1,000: women's golf, soccer, tennis and volleyball.
The Tigers were one of nine schools in the Southeastern Conference with at least four sport programs given public recognition by the NCAA. Matching the Black & Gold at four team recognitions were Auburn, Kentucky, LSU and Florida.
The NCAA's APR provides a real-time look at a program's academic success for each semester by tracking the progress of scholarship student-athletes. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each program's academic performance.
This year's honors mark the second consecutive school year that Mizzou has had four teams recognized by the NCAA.
Mizzou's excellence in academic pursuits is aided by the atmosphere cultivated by the Mizzou Made program, the Tigers' comprehensive array of tutorial and life skills services to ensure student-athlete success. Mizzou Made provides support tailored to each individual's academic needs and goals.
