- Mizzou Baseball looks to snap a season-long six-game losing streak as it heads to Georgia for a three-game SEC series, beginning Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU. Friday's game will air live on SEC Network+ at 6 p.m. while Saturday's series finale will be played at 12:30 p.m. (CT) at Suntrust Park, the brand new stadium of Major League Baseball's Atlanta Braves, in the first game open to the public in the new stadium. There is no TV slated for that game, so Mizzou fans can catch the action on KTGR in the Mid-Missouri area with Tex Little and Matt Michaels on the call.
- Mizzou is coming off of a 5-3 Tuesday night loss to border rival Illinois, its sixth consecutive loss. Despite losing six in a row, Mizzou has done so by a combined seven runs with five one-run losses and Tuesday's two-run loss in that span.
- This weekend's Thursday-Saturday series is the first for Mizzou since at Kentucky from May 19-21 last season. Mizzou went 1-2 in that series with Tanner Houck pitching a gem on short rest that Thursday. In all, Mizzou went 3-6 in Thursday-Saturday series last season, being swept at Mississippi State and taking two of three from Auburn at home.
- The previously mentioned Houck has been tremendous in his career on short rest, especially last season. He started four games on short rest a year ago and had a combined 2.30 ERA in 33.1 innings in those four starts, striking out 34 against only four walks while winning two of the four starts with two complete games. All four starts came against good offensive teams as well in Auburn (9.0 inning complete game win), SEC Champion Mississippi State (7.1 innings, four hits, three earned runs), at Kentucky (9.0 complete game win, three earned runs) and against Vanderbilt five days later in the SEC Tournament (6.0 innings, two earned runs).
- Mizzou is making its first trip to Georgia since it opened SEC play in 2015 with a three-game series sweep of the Bulldogs at Foley Field. Mizzou won the opening game of that series in a doubleheader, 5-1, and then completed a 10-inning, 8-4 win in game two of that doubleheader. Now a junior, then a freshman, Tanner Houck pitched that second game, going 7.1 innings, allowing three earned runs with one walk and seven strikeouts. Mizzou then completed the sweep with a 6-0 shutout on Sunday that season.
- Mizzou is 5-1 all-time at Foley Field since joining the SEC, winning two of three over the Bulldogs in the Tigers' initial season in the SEC in 2013. Mizzou's only loss to the Bulldogs in Athens was a 6-5 decision in the Saturday game during the 2013 season. Mizzou also has a pair of shutouts at Foley Field and has won four straight dating back to that 2013 season.
- Mizzou Baseball will close its series with SEC East Division rival Georgia in the first ever college game at Suntrust Park, the brand new home of Major League Baseball's Atlanta Braves, announced in January by the Braves. The game is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. (CT) first pitch on Saturday, April 8.
- Suntrust Park, a $622 million stadium, has been under construction in the Cumberland area of Atlanta since November of 2014. The park had a soft open on March 31 as the Braves played the New York Yankees in a preseason game. Mizzou and Georgia's game comes one week later.
- SunTrust Park will be the perfect marriage of classic ballpark feel, modern amenities and southern hospitality, creating a fan experience unlike any other. An intimate setting of 41,149 seats (20 percent smaller than Turner Field) will be designed to maximize sightlines.
