TALLAHASSEE, FLA. - Mizzou is back in the NCAA Tournament, clinching back-to-back appearances in the Big Dance for the first time since 1985 and 1986. The Tigers earned a 6-seed in the Stockton (Calif.) bracket and will face No. 11-seed South Florida in Tallahassee, Fla. Tip is set for 4:15 p.m. CT on ESPN2 at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. The team who advances will face the winner between No. 3 Florida State/No. 14 Western Illinois on Sunday.
BACK IN THE DANCE
- Mizzou has clinched back-to-back NCAA Tournament berths for the first time since 1985 and 1986.
- The Tigers earned a No. 6-seed, its highest in a 64-team NCAA Tournament. The last time Mizzou had a higher seed was in the 1984 32-team tourney, which saw the Tigers secure a 4-seed.
- Mizzou is looking to win a game in consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in program history.
- Mizzou and South Florida have never met in basketball.
- The Tigers have five NCAA Tournament victories in program history, with four of the five wins coming by single digits, including Mizzou's 78-69 triumph over BYU last season.
- Mizzou finished third in the SEC after being selected seventh in the preseason poll. It's the Tigers' highest conference finish since 1990.
- Mizzou has 21 victories for the 2nd straight season. The last time the Tigers won at least 21 games in two straight seasons was '83-84 & '84-85.
- Mizzou's 11 conference wins matched its most in a season since 1990. The last time the Tigers won at least eight conference games in back-to-back seasons was 1986-87 and 1987-88.
TALLAHASSEE SUB-REGIONAL
- Mizzou is 2-2 all-time vs. Florida State, 9-1 all-time vs. Western Illinois (including a win earlier this season) and 0-0 vs. USF.
- Mizzou finished with four Top-25 RPI wins. That's as many as Florida State and more than USF (2) and WIU (0) combined.
- South Florida is the only team in the Sub-regional with a +150-RPI loss.
- Mizzou enters the NCAA Tournament tested, having played 12 games against teams in the 2017 field.
- The Tigers finished with six wins in those games with a pair of victories over top four seeds (No. 1-seed South Carolina & No.-4 seed Kentucky).
- Eight SEC schools clinched spots in the NCAA Tournament field, the most of any conference in the nation.
HOT STREAK
- Mizzou has won 10 of its last 13 games, winning five in a row in January and five more in a row from mid to late February.
- Mizzou's five-game streak was its longest in conference play since 1990.
- Mizzou has three conference win streaks of four or more since joining the SEC.
- With victories over South Carolina, Texas A&M and Kentucky during the streak, the Tigers have downed five straight ranked opponents at Mizzou Arena, dating back to last season.
- The Tigers' free throw percentage as a team, 80.2 percent, is on pace to set single-season program and SEC records. The current SEC record is 78.3 percent (Georgia - 2006). Only 17 teams in NCAA history have shot above 80 percent from the charity stripe in a season.
- Mizzou clinched its fifth consecutive winning season. The last time the Tigers put together five straight winning seasons was 1985-90.
- Mizzou put together two win streaks of five or more in league play this season. It's the first time in program history that Mizzou has recorded multiple conference win streaks of five or more in the same season.
- Mizzou's senior class has won 79 games, the most since the 1987-88 senior class won 80 games.
LAST TIME OUT
- Mizzou lost its SEC Tournament opener, 62-48, to Texas A&M on March 3. After a hot first quarter, the Tigers' offense went cold over the final 30 minutes of action as Mizzou scored fewer than 50 points for just the second time this season.
- Senior guard Sierra Michaelis (Mercer, Mo.) led Mizzou with 15 points behind a trio of three-pointers. It marked the 18th time that Michaelis has scored in double figures this season. The Tigers fell to 13-5 in those contests.
- Sophomore guard Sophie Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.) contributed 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Sophomore forward Cierra Porter (Columbia, Mo.) added nine points and five rebounds.
- Mizzou took a season-low two free attempts in the loss.
