LEXINGTON, Ky. – Mizzou Football dropped a heartbreaker at Kentucky, 40-34, Saturday night (Oct. 7) at Kroger Field. Mizzou put up 568 yards of offense, including 213 on the ground, against a Kentucky team that came into the game allowing just 75 yards per game. Mizzou had a potential game-tying 45-yard field goal blocked late in the fourth quarter. The loss drops Mizzou to 1-4 on the year and 0-3 in SEC play while Kentucky goes to 5-1 and 2-1 in league action.
Turning Point
Kentucky senior K Austin MacGinnis connected on a 52-yard field goal with 9:40 remaining in the game to give Kentucky a 37-34 lead. It came after Mizzou forced an incompletion on third-and-10. Mizzou then drove into Kentucky territory on the ensuing drive following a career-long 27-yard scamper by senior RB Ish Witter. The drive stalled and sophomore K Tucker McCann had a potential game-tying, 45-yard field goal blocked as Kentucky escaped with the win.
Top Tigers
- Junior QB Drew Lock threw three TDs Saturday, moving his career total to 40. The 40 TD passes are tied for the fourth-most in Mizzou history with Blaine Gabbert.
- In his first start of the season, junior WR Emanuel Hall hauled in his first TD of the season and first since Sept. 24, 2016, against Delaware State. He finished with a career-high 129 receiving yards and a season-high four catches.
- Senior WR J'Mon Moore moved into 10th place all-time on Mizzou's career receiving yards list after hauling in seven catches for 86 yards. Moore has caught a pass in 22 consecutive games. Only 20 players in the nation have a longer active streak.
- Junior LB Terez Hall had a monster game for the Mizzou defense. He reset career-highs in tackles (game-high 12), tackles for loss (2.5) and moved his season total to 6.5 tackles for loss. That is the most TFLs for a Mizzou linebacker in a season since 2015 when Kentrell Brothers had 12.0.
- Senior RB Ish Witter ran for a season-high 139 yards, his first 100-yard performance since at Tennessee on Nov. 16, 2016, when he scampered for a career-high 163.
Notes

- Sophomore LB Cale Garrett hauled in his second career interception and first of the season Saturday.
