First practice in shells highlighted a beautiful Saturday afternoon
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Football held its third practice of 2016 #MIZCamp on a beautiful day in Mid-Missouri Saturday afternoon at the Kadlec Practice Fields. Mizzou was in shells for the first time on Saturday after a pair of helmet practices Thursday and Friday.
A Dominic Collins 60-yard TD grab on a perfectly thrown deep ball by QB Jack Lowary highlighted 7-on-7 and set the tone for a high-energy 11-on-11. Sophomore QB Drew Lock connected on a pair of big gains to open 11-on-11, first with WR Chris Black who went up and hauled in a jump ball over S Anthony Sherrils. WR Justin Smith then hauled in a perfect pass from Lock on the right sideline on the next play as the offense was rolling early in 11-on-11. RB Alex Ross also made a move on a run that led to excitement from the offensive sideline.
Special teams work followed and then assistant coaches were made available to the media following practice for the first time during fall camp. Mizzou will hold a morning practice in shells on Sunday before breaking for a team meeting. Fans will be able to meet their favorite Tigers Sunday evening at Fan Appreciation Day, beginning at 6:45 p.m.
