COLUMBIA, Mo. - A seven-run fourth inning was not enough for Mizzou Baseball (17-14, 2-8) as it fell to Auburn (15-15, 3-7) 11-9, Thursday night at Taylor Stadium. Every Mizzou hitter either got a hit or an RBI in the fourth inning as the team mustered seven hits, including a pair of back-to-back triples. Auburn battled back into the game late and ended up handing Mizzou its eighth SEC defeat.

Senior 1B Zach Lavy (Auxvasse, Mo.) continued his excellent season, driving in his team-leading 30th RBI of the year in the fourth inning by tripling to right field. The triple was his sixth of the season, the most in the SEC.
Freshman 2B Ian Nelson (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) collected a career-high three hits to pace Mizzou at the plate. He notched his eighth RBI of the year in the fourth inning. Nelson's double paired with the double from McGuire gave Mizzou its eighth straight game with at least two doubles.

Mizzou 3B Shane Benes
On Auburn's Ben Braymer…
"He was throwing fastballs and we were swinging and missing. He kept attacking guys and for some reason, nobody could seem to hit it. We were all trying to figure it out. I don't know. I can't give you an answer."
On the fourth inning…
"We were putting together quality at-bats. We had a lot of them, I don't know how many, but we were putting together good at-bats. The energy in the dugout was incredible. Guys were picking each other up and getting excited and we were just having fun. The energy just kept building off of each other. Just kept scoring runs."
Mizzou OF Trey Harris
On Auburn reliever Ben Braymer…
"He was mixing up and making the ball move a little bit. Sometimes good pitchers like that make the ball move just miss your bat enough. I feel like in my last AB I saw the ball the entire time, it just tipped off my bat. Sometimes it moves just enough. That's what happened in my opinion."
