- Mizzou Baseball will continue its week-long homestand as it welcomes Auburn (14-15, 2-7 SEC) to Taylor Stadium for a three-game series beginning Thursday (April 7) at 6:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast to a national television audience on ESPNU with Mark Neely and Gabe Gross on the call. Friday's game will begin at 6 p.m. on SEC Network+ and Saturday's finale is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch at Taylor Stadium on SEC Network+. Pitching matchups for the weekend are below.
- Thursday: Mizzou RHP Reggie McClain (3-1, 2.58 ERA) vs. Auburn RHP Cole Lipscomb (1-3, 5.61 ERA)
- Friday: Mizzou RHP Tanner Houck (3-2, 2.76 ERA) vs. Auburn RHP Justin Camp (2-1, 4.57 ERA)
- Saturday: Mizzou LHP Michael Plassmeyer (2-2, 5.13 ERA) vs. Auburn LHP Andrew Mitchell (4-1, 4.17 ERA)
- Mizzou and Auburn have met 11 times in history with Mizzou leading the all-time series, 8-3. The two teams last met in 2014 with Mizzou winning two of three down on the plains, also in a Thursday-Saturday series. Mizzou won game one, 4-3, with two runs in the seventh and another in the eighth to steal the game as Mizzou's bullpen 3.2 innings of shutout baseball. Mizzou then won Friday, 4-2, again scoring a pair of eighth-inning runs late to win the game. Auburn won the series finale, 7-3, tagging Mizzou starter Brett Graves for 13 hits and six runs in 5.2 innings. Auburn was ranked No. 21 nationally during that series. Mizzou has won the last three series over Auburn and six of the last nine games overall.
- Mizzou opened April in style, taking two of three games at #15 Arkansas, completing Mizzou's first road series win over a top-20 team since March of 2014 (the aforementioned series vs. Auburn). Mizzou scored 24 runs over the three games and slugged 16 extra-base hits (10 doubles, two triples and four homers) over the three games. Mizzou's bullpen was also tremendous in the three-game series, allowing just one earned run over 11.0 innings of work, registering a pair of saves and allowing just nine hits while striking out nine. Mizzou was also exceptional on defense, fielding at a .981 clip with just a pair of errors on the weekend. The bats, the bullpen and defense had hindered Mizzou through the first two weekends of SEC play, but Mizzou did all three things really well last weekend en-route to the series win. The series was Arkansas' first home series loss since March of 2015 when it lost to LSU. Mizzou then took a midweek game Tuesday vs. SIUE, 9-6, jumping out to a 9-0 lead after four innings.
