Freshman Morgan Porter won the all-around with a score of 39.250
ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Freshman Morgan Porter (Overland, Mo.) won the all-around and two event titles as the No. 23 Mizzou gymnastics team earned a 195.200-192.000 win over Lindenwood on Sunday afternoon in St. Charles, Mo. Porter scored a four-event total of 39.250 to claim top honors in the all-around, while winning bars (9.800) and tying for first on vault (9.825).
Also winners during the meet were sophomore Kennedi Harris (Atlanta, Ga.) and freshmen Brooke Kelly (Birmingham, Ala.) and freshman Britney Ward (Ozark, Mo.). Harris scored a 9.875 on floor to go two-for-two in floor wins this weekend, Kelly notched a 9.850 on beam to earn first on the event and Ward tied Porter with a 9.825 on vault for the win.
The Tigers opened the meet with a team tally of 48.825 on bars, led by Porter's 9.800. No Tiger scored lower than a 9.725 on the apparatus, as sophomore Shauna Miller (Knoxville, Tenn.) went 9.775, freshmen Allison Bower (Mesa, Ariz.), Madeleine Huber (St. Louis, Mo.) and Kelly all went 9.750 and sophomore Becca Schugel (Eagan, Minn.) recorded a 9.725.
On vault in the second rotation, Porter and Ward helped Mizzou go a 48.750. Additionally, Harris went 9.775 and junior Angie Kern posted a 9.700.
Mizzou's highest event total of the day come on floor, where the squad notched a 48.925, only 0.25 off the score it notched on Friday. In addition to Harris' 9.875, Porter notched a strong 9.825 and Bower and Kern each tallied 9.775s.
The Tigers closed the day on beam, where the team went 48.700 as a team for the team total of 195.200. Kelly's 9.850 marked the highest score for a Tiger so far this season, while Porter notched her fourth 9.800 or higher score of the meet with a career best 9.800. Allbritten and Bower added 9.750s in the solid rotation.
Mizzou travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to take on the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. CT. The meet will be aired live on SEC Network + and televised on tape delay on the SEC Network on Monday, Jan. 18.
