Sept. 12, 2015
Jonesboro, Ark.
Attendance: 29,143
TEAM
• Mizzou has won 11 consecutive true regular season road games, dating back to Sept. 21, 2013 at Indiana.
• Mizzou moved to 10-1 all-time against opponents from the Sun Belt Conference.
• Gary Pinkel has 188 wins in his head coaching career. He is the fourth-winningest active coach in the FBS.
OFFENSE
• QB Maty Mauk completed 16 of 36 passes for 148 yards with three TDs. His 11-yard TD pass to WR Nate Brown in the second quarter marked his ninth straight game with at least one TD pass, dating back to Oct. 25, 2014 vs. Vanderbilt. Mauk has led the Tigers to an 8-1 record with 16 TD passes during that stretch.
• Mauk recorded his sixth career 3-plus TD pass performance, 12th multi-TD pass contest and now has 19 career TD passes in the second half of games. He has thrown 23 TDs and registered a 139.9 QB rating in nonconference action during his career.
• Mauk moved into sole possession of fourth place in Mizzou history with 41 career TD throws, passing Blaine Gabbert (40, 2008-10) and Jeff Handy (39, 1991-94). He trails Chase Daniel (101, 2005-08), Brad Smith (56, 2002-05) and James Franklin (51, 2010-13) for the program record.
• WR Nate Brown now has caught a TD pass in each of the first two games of the 2015 season. He finished with a career-high four catches for 46 yards.
• WR Wesley Leftwich recorded his first career TD reception on a 32-yard pass in the third quarter.
• TE Sean Culkin notched career-highs with five receptions for 46 yards, including the second TD catch of his career from 21 yards out.
• RB Ish Witter rushed for a career-high 50 yards on 12 carries (4.2 avg.), including a career-long 27-yard run in the third quarter.
DEFENSE
• Mizzou held Arkansas State to 217 total yards for the game and just 37 yards and three points during the second half.
• LB Kentrell Brothers tied a career-high with 16 tackles (10 solo) for the second straight week, which equals the fourth-highest total at Mizzou during the Pinkel era. Brothers has 62 tackles over his last five games (12.4 avg.). He also set a career-best with two interceptions, both coming in the fourth quarter. Brothers picked off a pass for the first time since 2013 and now has five INTs during his career. With the two picks, Brothers became the first Tiger since S Braylon Webb at Florida on Oct. 18, 2014 to achieve the feat. It marked the 11th time a Mizzou defender has intercepted multiple passes over the last 18 years and just the third time by a linebacker, joining LB Sean Weatherspoon vs. Illinois on Aug. 30, 2008 and LB Brandon Barnes vs. Texas Tech on Oct. 25, 2003.
• DE Charles Harris notched his first 2.0 sacks of the 2015 season and now has 4.0 sacks in his career. He tallied six tackles (five solo), 4.5 tackles for loss (-24 yards) and two QB hurries. The 4.5 tackles for loss in a game are the most by a Mizzou defensive player since S Cornelius "Pig" Brown notched 4.5 TFLs (-9 yards) on Oct. 20, 2007 when No. 15 Mizzou defeated No. 22 Texas Tech, 41-10, at Faurot Field.
• LB Michael Scherer notched 10 stops (six solo), including 3.0 tackles for loss (-9 yards).
• CB John Gibson recorded his second career interception and returned it a career-long 35 yards, setting up Mizzou's first touchdown one play later.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• PK Andrew Baggett was responsible for nine points in the contest (two field goals, three PATs). He is now 52 points shy of breaking the school record for career points.
• P Corey Fatony averaged 48.9 yards per punt on six attempts, including a career-long 60-yard punt down to the A-State 11-yard line late in the fourth quarter, setting up the final defensive series to clinch the victory.
MISCELLANEOUS
• Mizzou recorded its most plays on a scoring drive this season in the first quarter, running 12 plays during the 60-yard march to open a 3-0 lead.
