COLUMBIA, Mo. - #MIZCamp headed indoors to the Dan Devine Indoor Pavilion for the first time Saturday morning due to thunderstorms in the area. Saturday represented the end of what used to be known as "two-a-days" and even though the Tigers don't hold two practices per day in camp anymore, a tradition continued where "Warrior" t-shirts were awarded to all players who didn't have a red injury bib/jersey on at any point during camp. Conversely, a light-hearted t-shirt is awarded to two players who struggled the most with injuries during camp. Captains voted on this, and awarded K Andrew Baggett one shirt, and the other went to one of the co-captains in S Ian Simon.
The Tigers now have two days off from practice, as is the tradition with Monday representing the first day of fall classes at Mizzou. The team will get back to the practice field Tuesday afternoon as they continue preparations for the 2015 season opener on Sept. 5 vs. Southeast Missouri. Below are some observations from Saturday's indoor session:
- Coaches wives and children came by today at the end of practice and handed out popsicles to the team to reward them for making it through morning practices.
- QB Maty Mauk completed long passes to WRs DeSean Blair and Emanuel Hall along with TE Sean Culkin during receiver vs. secondary drills.
- DE Charles Harris showed a lot of speed on rushes off of the edge both in 1-on-1 and team drills, recording multiple sacks.
- C Evan Boehm and DL Josh Augusta continued their competitive battles in 1-on-1 drills. Augusta was able to push through in the first round while Boehm rebounded the next time around to hold his ground.
- LB Terez Hall jumped a route in the flat to break up a pass.
- WR Emanuel Hall made two 1-handed catches on long passes near the sideline, recording first downs in the red zone for the offense.
- OL Clay Rhodes and Paul Adams both had strong showings for the offensive line in 1-on-1 drills while DL Rickey Hatley was able to reach the QB for the defense.
K Luke Jackson drilled a 49-yard field goal that sailed into the net beyond the goal posts with plenty of room to spare. - DL Marcell Frazier recorded a sack during the 11-on-11 fourth quarter simulation.
- LB Joey Burkett and S Thomas Wilson both broke up passes near the goal line in 11-on-11 play.
- QB Eddie Printz lofted a perfectly-thrown pass that was hauled in by TE Kendall Blanton to move the chains in a live situation.
- DE Nate Howard used an impressive spin move to sack the replica QB during 1-on-1 line drills.
