COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Football head coach Gary Pinkel met with reporters Monday to talk about Friday's game against Arkansas.
Opening Statement…
Good afternoon everyone. Appreciate the adjustment here. It's an adjustment for our football team. When you have a Friday game, everything changes so today is kind of a combination of a Monday and Tuesday for our players. It was a Tuesday practice. Generally our players get another 48 hours of preparation and healing and soreness and things like that from the game that go on so we normally start our first practice tomorrow. So it's a little bit of an adjustment there. We've adjusted practice a little bit and how we are going to practice for all the right reasons. We are playing a really good football team. I am really impressed with how Bret has handled that team and the difficulty they had at the beginning of the season and how they came out of it. That certainly shows that he is obviously a very good football coach and good team. They are very, very explosive on offense. Quarterback is playing at a whole different level than a year ago. Last year he was very good but he is playing at an exceptional level right now. Tight ends, wide receivers, they have some really great tools there. Defensively they are young but they're very athletic. They only have one senior on that entire defense so they do a lot of good things there too. For us, it's just get out and prepare to play our best and that never changes so you certainly want to do that. Our players have been going through an awful lot of stuff and trying to put that up on the shelf and focus on where you are at right here, right now and playing your best and that's what we are trying to do.
