Statement from Big 12 Conference commissioner Kevin Weiberg regarding the Missouri at Iowa State football game:
"As part of our weekly officiating evaluation process, we have communicated with Missouri head football coach Gary Pinkel who asked for feedback regarding an official's call in the Missouri at Iowa State game. Big 12 coordinator of football officials Walt Anderson communicates with coaches weekly in a straightforward manner regarding concerns from games and provides comment on plays officiated correctly and those that are determined to be mistakes. This communication is confidential so as to encourage an open dialogue concerning the officiating in games. In this case, Coordinator Anderson did acknowledge that a holding call late in the Missouri at Iowa State game was incorrect based on his review of the game tape. Officials are evaluated weekly and a season-long grade of performance is developed that serves as the basis for postseason and future-year assignments. The videotape review of football officiating consists of an analysis of every play of every game assigned by the Conference."
