Five Tigers Named to Academic All-Big 12 Volleyball Team

Mizzou volleyball senior Juliana Godoi and sophomores Lisa Boyd, Lindsey Hunter, Shen Danru and Lindsey Noll have been named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Godoi, Boyd and Hunter were first team selections and Noll was named to the second team.

Godoi is a interdisciplinary studies major from Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is averaging 2.22 digs per game and has a 0.39 aces per game average, which is eighth best in the Big 12 Conference. Godoi has had 20 digs twice this season, including a 22-dig performance in Mizzou's win over Nebraska on Nov. 8, which tied her career high.

Boyd, a native of Farmington, Mo., majors in secondary education at MU. She leads the team with a .271 hitting percentage and is third on the team with a 2.40 kills per game average. Boyd has had 10 or more kills in five of the last seven matches and set a career high with 16 against Texas A&M on Nov. 1.

Hunter is majoring in pre-journalism at Mizzou. The Papillion, Neb. native currently leads the Big 12 Conference with a 12.43 assists per game average. She is second on the team in double-doubles with 10 on the year. Hunter has recorded 1,218 career assists, which places her third all time at Mizzou in only her sophomore season.

Danru is a general agricultural major from Shanghai, China. She leads the team kills per game, digs per game and aces per game. Her 0.51 aces per game mark is second best in the Big 12 Conference. She is sixth in the conference in kills per game and seventh in digs per game. Last week, Danru was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VII Team.

Noll is an elementary education major from St. Louis, Mo. She is second on the team in kills per game (2.53), hitting percentage (.265) and blocks per game (0.90). Noll has reached double-digits in kills in the last 10 matches and set a career high with 20 kills against Texas A&M on Nov. 1.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the volleyball academic all-league squad consists of 42 first-team members combined with eight on the second team. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 average or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are eligible. The Tigers will be back in action at the Hearnes Center at 7 p.m. on Wednesday against Iowa State.
