COLUMBIA, Mo. - At No. 7 in the country and 25-0 (9-0 SEC), the Mizzou volleyball program has been added to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I Volleyball Championship First- and Second-Round Host Watch List, as announced by the AVCA Tuesday (Oct. 29). Mizzou is one of 33 teams nationally that have been identified by the AVCA as a potential host for the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

The criteria to be on the watch list are as follows: Teams that are in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 poll as of October 28, 2013, or teams that are in the top 25 of the Pablo Rankings as of October 28, 2013 or teams that are in the top 25 of the RPI Rankings as of October 28, 2013. At No. 7 in the AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll, No. 6 in the Pablo and RPI rankings, Mizzou meets the criteria in all three categories. The top 16 seeds, as determined by the NCAA Volleyball Championship Committee, will have the opportunity to host the opening rounds of competition.

Mizzou has hosted the NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds on two separate occasions - in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, nearly 9,000 fans packed into the Hearnes Center over the two matches as the Tigers advanced to the Sweet 16, eventually reaching the Elite Eight that season.
