COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou volleyball team will hold its annual `Can the Sooners' night at the Hearnes Center on Saturday (Oct. 24) against the nationally-ranked Oklahoma Sooners. Fans will receive free admission to the Tigers' match against the Sooners with the donation of two canned food items. All donations go to the Central Missouri Food Bank.

After collecting 1,761 pounds of food at last year's event, the Tigers hope to break that mark this season as they have their sights set on 2,000 pounds of food. 2011 marks the seventh-consecutive year that the volleyball program has hosted this event, dating back to the 2005 season when the Tigers hosted a program-record 7,298 fans against Nebraska.

The match is slated for a 6:30 p.m. start time at the Hearnes Center. Mizzou and Oklahoma have had some exciting battles over the last several years as five of the last seven meetings have gone at least four sets while two have gone five. Oklahoma will also come into Saturday's match ranked No. 21 in the AVCA Top 25 Poll.
