COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Southeastern Conference announced its 2013 volleyball television schedule on Wednesday (Aug. 14) and Mizzou will appear on national television through the package twice during the 2013 season. Mizzou's match at Arkansas on Oct. 2 will air live on ESPNU at 6 p.m. while its contest at Tennessee will air live on Fox Sports Midwest, Fox SportsSouth and Fox Sports Southwest on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
The Arkansas match will be the first televised SEC match of the season, marking the second consecutive season that Mizzou will be featured in the league's opening televised match. Last year, Mizzou defeated No. 17 Tennessee in comeback fashion on ESPNU in its inaugural SEC match, 3-2, after trailing 2-0 at intermission.
"When Mizzou joined the Southeastern Conference prior to last season, one of the biggest appeals to the league was the exposure for its programs nationally and this year's television schedule is another indication of that," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "I am also excited that, once again, Mizzou will be featured in the first televised SEC match of the year. I think everyone remembers the excitement that surrounded last year's win over Tennessee on ESPNU and the SEC gives us the opportunity to have that excitement reach more than 70 million homes around the nation. The SEC's television deal really is the best in the nation."
The Tigers match with Arkansas on ESPNU will reach 75 million homes nationally while the Fox broadcasts can reach nearly 40 million people in its regional footprints. In all, ESPNU, Fox Sports and CSS/CST will combine to televise 18 SEC volleyball matches this season.
