Aug. 8, 2014

COLUMBIA, Mo. - With the volleyball season rapidly approaching, there will be plenty of fresh faces on the court during the 2014 season. As the Tigers look to defend their SEC Championship, fans will be familiar with all of the players who helped guide Mizzou to a 34-0 regular season, but there will be four freshmen on this year's team. MUTigers.com caught up with the four of them to help Tiger fans get to know the incoming class.

Wayne Kreklow on Alexa: "LA obviously comes to us from a strong volleyball family - we coached her older sister Pip here for four years. She is a very steady passer and a great defender and is very quick in the back row. She is a very experienced and seasoned volleyball player and should figure into the mix as a freshman this season."

Wayne Kreklow on Sydney: "Syd is just an outstanding athlete and an elite jumper. She has been a multi-sport athlete her whole life and really started to focus heavily on volleyball a year ago so she has a really high ceiling. She has the size and athletic ability to be a featured player at the Division I level. She is a big, physical kid that can play at a really high level above the net. The biggest thing about her is she is just an elite jumper that should help us immediately."

#5 Ali Kreklow // 5-9 // S // Columbia, Mo.

Wayne Kreklow on Ali: "I think Ali will be a great addition to the program. She has made tremendous strides this year and honestly, she has been a late-bloomer. She has come a long way in the last year-and-a-half and is doing an outstanding job. Being around our program she knows the game. She is a great setter and has great placement. She has developed into a really savvy setter and is going to help us in a lot of ways."

Wayne Kreklow on Kasey:"Kasey is another elite athlete - great leaper, quick, fast arm. Her athleticism will allow her to do a lot of things on the court for us. She comes to us from the same alma mater as one of our former All-Americans Jess Vander Kooi. She is another really outstanding multi-sport athlete and that speaks to her overall athletic ability. Like Sydney, she has a really high ceiling because of her athleticism. I am really excited about her potential."
