COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou volleyball sophomores Whitney Little (Keller, Texas) and Katie O'Brien (Dallas, Texas) recently completed the European Global Challenge in Italy in which they played with the BIP/USA Development Team at the European Global Challenge. The team was comprised of a select group of college freshmen, sophomores and juniors.

The team spent four nights in Milan, Italy, at the Italian Volleyball Federation's practice facility. Team USA played against various club teams from across Italy at the brand new facility under the direction of Italy Junior National Team head coach Marco Mencarelli.

After staying four nights in Milan, the team then went to Pula, Croatia, for the Global Challenge. Little and O'Brien playing overseas with the BIP/USA Developmental program marks the third straight season that Mizzou has had a student-athlete play overseas with the program. In 2010, Julianna Klein played in Brazil while last year, All-American Lisa Henning played in China. Both Klein and Henning saw huge improvements in their game after playing overseas and Little and O'Brien will hope for similar jumps as they enter their sophomore seasons in 2012.
