COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou freshman Jade Hayes (Ozark, Mo.) has been named to the PrepVolleyball.com Defensive Dandies list, which recognizes the top incoming defensive players in the nation. Hayes was named to the Dandy Lions list, which ranks all-around high school talents who project as back row players at the collegiate level.

Hayes was one of the cornerstones of the Tigers' seven-player recruiting class as she is a two-time Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year and was an Under Armour/AVCA High School All-American last season. The Defensive Dandies list, which was compiled by PrepVolleyball.com's John Tawa, consists of five different teams. Hayes was one of 12 athletes selected to the first team, recognizing the very best of the top defensive players in the nation.

Tawa had this to say of Hayes in the article: A ferociously fit outside hitter and First Team Dandy Lion last year, Hayes' growl was even more tenacious in a 2010 season that saw her repeat as Missouri's Gatorade POY. Said Ozark coach Becky Justus: "This year teams avoided serving at Jade and tried their best not to hit in her area if at all possible. They knew how awesome she was. She has earned such high respect from other teams and coaches. It was will be amazing to watch her play college ball and see how she covers the back row against some of the best hitters in the nation. With her attitude, work ethic, and determination.....I will guarantee you little will hit the floor if she has anything to say about it." Hayes has already enrolled at Missouri with the goal of contributing on defense her freshman year.
