COLUMBIA, Mo. - Incoming Mizzou volleyball freshman Emily Thater (Springfield, Mo.) was named to the Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 list, which recognizes the top 50 high school players in the country. Thater was one of three Missouri natives selected to the list and one of just 17 middle blockers. Thater, at 6-3, should be in a position to contribute to Mizzou right away when she joins the team for her freshman season in 2013.

During her time at Kickapoo High School, Thater guided her team to a second-place finish at the Class 4A MSHSAA District Championships as a senior. The Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 billing for Thater adds to a long list of accolades as she has already been named the No. 36 recruit nationally by PrepVolleyball.com and earned a spot on the AVCA/Under Armour High School All-America Watch List.

Thater is the third incoming Tiger freshman to garner national praise this winter. Carly Kan (Honolulu, Haw.) was named to the Volleyball Magazine High School All-America First Team, which recognizes the top 13 high school volleyball players in the nation. Kan also joined incoming teammate Loxley Keala (Honolulu, Haw.) on the PrepVolleyball.com All-America Team as well. Kan was a first team honoree while Keala earned the highest honorable mention.
