Feb. 6, 2014

This month marks one of the best months for our team, as we will be honored at events like we've never seen before. After an incredible season like the one we had, a lot of doors have opened for our squad. The spring workouts have started off on a successful note, and we continue to train religiously. We have incorporated a variety of fun workouts into our weekly training. We have continued with hot yoga in the afternoons and Insanity workouts in the morning at the student rec. With the Tiger X passes we've received, our team plans to experiment with other exciting cardio classes such as Zumba and kickboxing. The insanity class was an intense workout that incorporated a variety of cross fit like exercises and pump up music that made it all the more enjoyable.

Last week our team was honored at the Board of Curators meeting to support our sports psychologist Scotta Morton for outstanding work with our volleyball team and other sports in the athletic department. The three juniors, Whitney, Emily and myself (Sarah) went on behalf of our team as we've worked hand in hand with Scotta over the past two years. She has taken this team to a whole other level; a team built completely on trust that rose from the ashes and became SEC Champions. She has been an incredible inspiration to us and we would not be where we are today without her. It was an honor to be a part of such a special occasion. We were able to meet the new MU Chancellor, R. Bowen Loftin at the ceremony, who was very welcoming and quite the joker.

With an incredible Board of Curators breakfast under our belt, we look forward to upcoming honorary events our team will be attending. Mark your calendars everyone, as this month will be full of jam-packed activities. On February 9th we will be recognized at the Women's basketball game with autograph signing at 1 pm. On February 20, we will be announced at the WIN Banquet on Columbia's College Campus to receive the WINners Choice Award. Following that award, we will be recognized at the State Capitol for our outstanding efforts in the 2013 season going undefeated in preseason and conference play as well as clinching the SEC title. Our incredible performance has come at such an opportune time, as a few of our teammates will be participating in the Women's National Team Tryout from February 21-23, 2014. We have seen where hard work in the face of adversity has taken us, and will use our latest accomplishments and honorable recognition as a platform to drive us during our spring training and future endeavors.
