Has the ability to play and attack from anywhere on the floor and specializes in attacking from the back row ... Boasts an uncanny leaping ability that allows her to hit over the top of blockers ... Has improved her blocking ability and overall defensive play as she will see more time in the back row this season ... Is an offensive machine that gets better with each attack in a match ... Has the potential to put up 30 kills in match on any give night.
2009: Junior Season
Was unanimously voted Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and was a first team All-Big 12 selection after leading the team in kills (410) and attacks (1,116) while ranking second on the team in total blocks (75) ... Earned Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors on four separate occasions and was named Big 12 Player of the Week once ... The five Big 12 weekly honors are the most ever by a Tiger volleyball player in a single season and she became the first Tiger ever to take home back-to-back Big 12 weekly honors and became the only player in the history of the league to take home Big 12 Rookie of the Week and Big 12 Player of the Week in the same season ... Posted 281 kills over her last 16 matches, more than any other player in the Big 12 during that span ... Finished the season ranked second in the Big 12 in kills per set (4.69) and points per set (5.21) during league play, trailing only Big 12 Player of the Year, Destinee Hooker ... 202 of her 410 kills on the season came against teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament ... Of those 15 matches against NCAA Tournament competition, she posted more than 15 kills eight times and eclipsed the 20-kill mark four times ... Became the 11th player in program history to eclipse 400 kills in a single season and the first to do so in the 25-point set era .. Set three school single-match records during the season, including a 35-kill performance in a four-set win at Kansas (10/24) ... Her 35 kills topped the previous school-record of 34, set by Yvette Buhlig back in 1989 ... Her 35 kills in the match are also a Big 12 four-set record and just five shy of the all-time Big 12 mark ... She also became only one of two Tigers to hit the 30-kill plateau during the rally scoring era ... She also set the school record for attacks in a match and attacks in a four-set match with her 78 swings at Kansas ... Also set a Mizzou program record for kills in a three-set match after posting 26 in the Tigers' last match of the season at Texas A&M (Nov. 28) ... She also hit .295 in that match with 11 digs and five blocks ... Finished the season with five double-doubles as she pulled in 194 digs on the season ... Hit double-digits in kills in 18 matches including a stretch of seven-straight from Oct. 7 until Oct. 28 ... Had two of her best performances of the season against Nebraska, first at home (10/16) when she posted 23 kills on .295 hitting with six total blocks and 13 digs while successfully completing 19 of 20 service reception chances ... Continued her fine play against the Huskers in Lincoln by posting 22 kills on .319 hitting, her Big 12 season-high clip and her best hitting percentage of the season when totaling more than 12 kills ... Had 21 kills on .245 hitting at home against Oklahoma (11/11), giving her five matches with 20 or more kills on the season ... Had 19 kills at home against Baylor (11/25), 19 at home against Texas A&M (9/26), 16 at Texas (10/21) and 15 at home against Iowa State (15) ... Averaged 0.70 blocks per set and 1.85 digs per set on the season and her 1,116 total attacks are the seventh-most in a single season at Mizzou ... Set single match career-bests in kills (35), hitting (.500), attacks (78), points (37.0), digs (15), aces (two), blocks (six) and assists (three) on the season ... Had double-doubles at Kansas State (17 kills, 10 digs), vs. Nebraska (23 kills, 13 digs), at Kansas (35 kills, 11 digs), at Colorado (10 kills, 15 digs), vs. Baylor (19 kills, 13 digs) and at Texas A&M (26 kills, 11 digs) ... Hit double-digits in digs during seven matches ... Had at least four blocks in a match on seven separate occasions throughout the year ... Career-best six blocks came at home against Nebraska (10/16) and she posted five blocks at Texas A&M (11/28) and at home against Colorado (10/7) ... Earned her first varsity letter at Mizzou.
Miami Dade College
Joins Mizzou from Miami Dade College where in 2007 she was named the National Junior College Athletic Associaiotn (NJCAA) National Player of the Year after ranking in the NJCAA national top-10 in hitting efficiency and kills per set ... Miami Dade College was the NJCAA National runner-up in 2007, her freshman season ... Ranked fifth in the NJCAA in kill percentage (57.08%) and was ninth in the state in kills per set (3.85) ... Was the Southern Conference player of the year for a second time and led the 30-0 Sharks to a Florida Community College Activities Association title.
Born Aug. 5, 1988 to Pablo Ampudia and Luz Maria Mosquera ... Chose Mizzou because of the coaching staff and a recommendation from a teammate at Miami Dade ... Plans to major in elementary education during her time at Mizzou ... Plans to pursue a professional volleyball career in Eurpoe upon her graduation.
