Junior Ann Marie Brooks automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 3000m at the Iowa State Classic Feb. 9-10

AMES, Iowa - Junior distance runner Ann Marie Brooks earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships in the 3000-meter run with her performance at the Iowa State Classic Feb. 9-10.
Brooks finished second with a time of 9:23.01, which is a second under the automatic standard of 9:24.0. She has also provisionally qualified in the mile.
The women's distance medley relay team also recorded a provisional qualifying time of 11:30.11, which was a second-place time. The men's DMR just missed the provisional time of 9:48.0. The Tiger men's time was 9:42.12.
Sophomore Christian Cantwell continued his hot streak with a 62-6 mark, which placed him third. Follow sophomore Russ Bell finished eighth with a 57-1.50 heave and a 60-0.25 mark in the weight throw. Bell finished 10th in the weight throw.
The Tigers return home for next weekend's All-Comers meet before heading to Lincoln a week later for the Big 12 Conference Championships.
