Chad Shade enters his second year on the coaching staff. He will assist with sprinters.
A native of Warrensburg, Mo., Shade gained immediate recognition earning All-Big 8 honors in the 400m as a
freshman. Three years later he finished his career as the Big 12 Champion in the 600yd dash. Noted
throughout his career as an exceptional relay runner, Shade was a member of MU’s Big 12 Champion
distance medley relay team.
Shade was also an outstanding student, earning numerous Academic All-Big 12 honors. He extended his
undergraduate study one year to participate as a McNair Scholar in 1999-2000. Shade is currently pursuing a
Ph.D. in sport psychology.
