Tigers Travel to ITA Central Regional Championships

Norman, Okla. - The Mizzou tennis team continues fall action at the ITA Central Regional Championships Thursday, Oct. 17 - Monday, Oct. 21 at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla.

Four Tigers will begin play on Thursday in the qualifying singles round: junior Alex Clark, sophomore Madison Rhyner and freshmen Tracy Dong and Cassidy Spearman. Athletes who win two matches in the qualifying round will advance to Friday's main draw.

Three Tigers - seniors Cierra Gaytan-Leach and Rachel Stuhlmann and sophomore Kelli Hine - have already qualified for the main draw.

Seven players participating in the event, including Gaytan-Leach (No. 72), are ranked in the ITA singles ranking.

The singles champion and the doubles champion, which will be determined on Monday, gets an automatic bid to the National Indoor Intercollegiate Tournament at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., from November 7-10.

Following the ITA Regional Championships, the Tigers will compete in the Midwest Blast Nov. 1-3 in Champaign, Ill.
