Sept. 11, 2012

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri tennis doubles duo of junior Cierra Gaytan-Leach and sophomore Elisha Gabb have been chosen to compete in the prequalifying doubles round of the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships Sept. 29-30. Additionally, Gaytan-Leach and junior Rachel Stuhlmann were named alternates in prequalifying singles.

"This is a great opportunity for the team to play against the best players in the nation," Mizzou Head Coach Sasha Schmid said. "With so many entrants it is very competitive to be accepted into the tournament. Cierra and Elisha are excited and working hard to prepare for this tournament."

Corona del Mar, Calif., native Gaytan-Leach is in her first year as a Tiger after transferring from the University of Texas. She compiled a 66-34 singles record and a 43-23 doubles mark in her two seasons as a Longhorn. As a sophomore in 2012, Gaytan-Leach was named the Big 12 Champion at No. 4 singles and posted a record of 22-13 at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

Gabb, who hails from London, England, spent last season at Lee Junior College in Baytown, Texas. She arrived at Mizzou as one of the top junior players in England. Gabb has reached an ITF singles ranking of No. 132, made the quarterfinals in two Grade 1ITF tournaments, and claimed an England National Doubles Championship.
