COLUMBIA, Mo. - Four members of the Mizzou tennis team earned titles competing in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Summer Circuit last weekend. Cierra Gaytan-Leach and incoming Tiger Cassidy Spearman claimed the doubles title in Laguna Niguel, Calif., while Rachel Stuhlmann won the singles crown and teamed with Madison Rhyner to win the doubles title in Wichita, Kan.

At the Laguna Niguel (Calif.) ITA Summer Circuit, Gaytan-Leach and incoming Spearman won the tournament's doubles title with four-straight wins. The pair dispatched Claremont's Crystal Lim and Pomona's Lea Lynn Yen in the second round, 8-2, and defeated UCSB's Kyra Scott and Tara Vanooteghem in the third, 8-6. In the semifinals, Gaytan-Leach and Spearman earned an 8-6 win over Pepperdine's Lorraine Guillermo and SDSU's Tamitha Nguyen. The duo then ousted Maryland's Sarah Gealer and Pacific's Regina Suarez in the finals, 8-6.

Competing at the Wichita State ITA Summer Circuit, Stuhlmann claimed the singles title and teamed with Rhyner to win the doubles crown. After a bye in the first round, Stuhlmann earned a 6-0, 6-0 win in the second round and defeated Emily Conrad of Abilene Christian 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals. The St. Louis, Mo., native then posted a 7-5, 6-3 win over Wichita State's Montse Blasco Fernandez in the finals in win the singles title.

Rhyner also competed in singles action and advanced to the semifinals of the tournament. She also had a bye in round one before defeating UConn's Shea Flanagan 6-4, 6-2 in the second round. In the semifinals, Rhyner fell to Blasco Fernandez 6-1, 6-4.

In doubles action in Wichita, Stuhlmann and Rhyner easily defeated Emily Conrad and Emma Baker in the second round to advance to the finals. There, the pair posted an 8-3 victory over Blasco Fernandez and Summer Schlotterback.
