COLUMBIA, Mo. - COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri has begun construction on the tennis program's new team facility. The project has an anticipated completion date of spring 2014.

"A facility this caliber will allow us to recruit, train, and graduate the type of student-athletes that can win in the Southeastern Conference," Head Coach Sasha Schmid said. "The `wow factor' that this facility will exude will be indicative of the pride that our student-athletes, coaches, and staff display every day when representing Mizzou.

"This will be arguably the best college tennis facility in the ITA Central and puts us on par with the top tennis facilities in the SEC."

Nestled between the outdoor courts and the Green Tennis Center, the new facility will include elevated spectator seating, coaches' offices, team locker room and lounge, training room, visiting team locker room, membership locker room and public restrooms. "This project will create a venue that is ideal for college tennis, with six outdoor courts side by side, all with elevated spectator seating, and an amenities building that links our two facilities with everything the team needs on a daily basis,"

Schmid said. "This setup will provide the ultimate atmosphere for playing, watching, and promoting college tennis. This configuration would serve as an ideal venue for live streaming and television broadcast of our sport, which will bring more attention and brand recognition to Mizzou Tennis and University of Missouri Athletics as a whole."
