Mizzou Tennis Adds Brianna Lashway to Program

COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri Head Tennis Coach Sasha Schmid announced on Friday the addition of Brianna Lashway (Bradenton, Fla.) to the program for the 2014-15 season. Lashway signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and compete for the Tigers.

Lashway will join her older sister, Brittany, on the Tiger squad next season. Brittany, a transfer from Syracuse, signed a financial aid agreement in January and will be a sophomore athletically in 2014-15.

"We are thrilled to welcome Brianna to our Mizzou Tennis family," Schmid said. "Brianna is a tough competitor with a talented tennis game, is a strong student and a great person. I love Brianna's true love for the sport of tennis. She's highly motivated to improve and test herself against the best tennis in the nation in our Southeastern Conference."

Brianna, who hails from Bradenton, Fla., reached the semifinals and placed fourth at the 2013 Regional National Florida Open Girl's 18 & Under Tournament after winning the qualifying tournament for the event. She also qualified for the 2013 $10,000 Tournament in Hilton Head, S.C.

In 2012, Brianna paired with her younger sister Brooke to win doubles in the Regional National Florida Open and qualified for the 2012 $10,000 Gainesville (Fla.) in doubles with Brooke. At the Serendipity Designated Girls' 14 & Under in April 2009, Brianna reached reached the semifinals and placed third.

"In terms of tennis, Brianna has weapons off her serve and forehand and is versatile as both a singles and doubles player," Schmid said. "She will make an immediate impact in our singles and doubles lineup. Mizzou tennis fans will love watching Brianna compete as a Tiger over the course of the next four years."
