BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mizzou tennis senior Maria Christensen was named to the 2013 Southeastern Conference Women's Tennis Community Service Team, the SEC office announced on April 16.

A native of Hellerup, Denmark, Christensen is an active member of the Columbia community and a team leader on the community service front. She helped helped coordinate team participation in many areas, such as the Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School read-a-thon, donating tennis balls to the Central Missouri Humane Society, visiting the Women's and Children's Hospital and organizing efforts to volunteer at The Food Bank.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all league sponsored sports. The Community Service team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.

Joining Christensen on the team are Keri Frankenberger (LSU), Kate Fuller (Georgia), Olivia Janowicz (Florida), Mary Anne Macfarlane (Alabama), Edmee Morin-Kougoucheff (Kentucky), Claudine Paulson (Arkansas), Caroline Rohde-Moe (Ole Miss) and Kata Szekely (Tennessee)
