Tennis Hosts Three Matches to Close Regular Season

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou tennis team closes out the regular season with three home matches at the Mizzou Tennis Center this weekend. The Tigers host Mississippi State on Friday, April 11 at 5 p.m. On Sunday, April 13 Missouri takes on Ole Miss at Noon and UMKC at 5 p.m. Sunday is Senior Day, where Mizzou will honor seniors Elisha Gabb, Cierra Gaytan-Leach and Rachel Stuhlmann before play gets underway against Ole Miss.

The Tigers enter the weekend 6-19 on the season and 0-11 in Southeastern Conference action. Gaytan-Leach leads Missouri with an 11-10 dual match record, which includes two SEC wins and three victories over ranked foes while playing No. 1 singles. Stuhlmann has a team high three singles wins against SEC competition.

Mississippi State enters the weekend with a 9-12 overall record and a 1-10 mark in SEC play. Bulldogs' No. 1 singles player Georgiana Patrasc ranks No. 66 in the ITA rankings this week and is an impressive 6-1 in SEC competition.

The Rebels own a 12-7 overall and 5-6 SEC record with two conference matches remaining. Julia Jones, ranked No. 91 nationally, and Mai El Kamash have identical 7-4 conference singles records at No. 3 and No. 4 play, respectively.

UMKC is 5-12 overall on the season. Top singles player Dimitra Stavrianankou owns a team best 6-8 record in dual matches.

Following this weekend, Mizzou hosts the 2014 SEC Women's Tennis Championship, April 16-20, at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.
