Tennis Set for Three-Match Swing in Florida

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou tennis team hits the road for three matches in the state of Florida this weekend. The Tigers open with Central Florida on Friday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. ET, then face South Florida and Oakland on Sunday, Feb. 23. Mizzou plays South Florida in Tampa, Fla., at 11 a.m. ET, followed by a 6 p.m. ET match against Oakland in Orlando, Fla.

Missouri enters the weekend with a 2-5 record. The Tigers defeated Saint Louis and SIU-Edwardsville but suffered losses to Harvard, Louisville, North Carolina State, Wake Forest and Wichita State.

Sophomore Kelli Hine leads the squad with four singles victories, including wins in her last two matches while playing No. 2 singles. Hine notched a 7-6 (7-1), 7-5 win over Wake Forest's Samantha Asch on Feb. 2 and a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Rebecca Pedrazzi of Wichita State on Feb. 16.

Central Florida is 3-2 on the season with wins over Florida Gulf Coast (4-3), Bethune Cookman (5-2) and Georgia Southern (5-2). The Knights have dropped matches to Florida (7-0) and North Florida (4-3).

The South Florida Bulls own a 4-3 mark as well, after notching wins over Syracuse (4-3), Florida Gulf Coast (7-0),Ohio State (4-1) and Tulane (6-1) and losing to LSU twice(4-1 and 4-3) and Florida State (5-2).

Oakland is 0-5 on the year with losses to Ball State (6-1), Eastern Michigan (7-0), Western Michigan (7-0), IPFW (6-1) and Michigan State (7-0).

Following this weekend's action, Missouri travels to South Carolina for a pair of matches. The Tigers take on Wofford at 9 a.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 28 before opening Southeastern Conference action against South Carolina later that day at 5 p.m. ET.
