Fort Myers, FLA. The Tiger women continued to smash their opponents on the second day of the Florida Golf Coast Invite/Johan Kriek Tennis Classic. Day two of the four-day long event featured singles and doubles action between seven universities. Missouri began the day with three doubles matches and finished with singles action against Akron.

Play began at 9:00 EST on Saturday (Jan. 17) morning, but the ladies racked their first win on the day ten minutes before the hour. Missouri was credited the doubles victory after the University of Southern Florida defaulted the match due to player fatigue.

At 10:30 and again at noon the Tigers earned victories, this time on the courts. The women swept Stetson in three matches of doubles play and went on to sweep host-school Florida Golf Coast University in doubles.

In their final match of the day Mizzou faced Akron in singles competition. The Tigers tallied up six victories over Akron, finishing the day 4-0 in match play.

The ladies will play their final match in Fla. Sunday (Jan. 18) morning at 9:00 a.m. EST. Missouri will face the University of Central Florida for singles action.

“This will be our toughest competition of the tournament,” said coach Blake Starkey of the Golden Knights. “I’m eager to see how our girls play.”
