Tennis Continues Action at Adidas IU Winter Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Mizzou tennis team completed day two action at the Adidas IU Winter Invitational Saturday afternoon at the IU Tennis Center in Bloomington, Ind.

Junior Cierra Gaytan-Leach, ranked No. 71 nationally in the singles rankings, battled back after dropping the first set to post a 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) win over Leslie Hureau of Indiana in Flight One action.

In other singles play, sophomore Elisha Gabb lost a close 7-6, 7-6, match to Indiana's Sophie Garre at flight three. Junior Rachel Stuhlmann was defeated by Indiana's Alecia Kauss, 7-5, 6-3, at flight two, Indiana's Katie Klyczek posted a 6-1, 6-1, victory over sophomore Alex Clark at flight four, senior Maria Christensen lost to Carolyn Chupa of Indiana, 6-4, 7-5, at flight five, and freshman Madison Rhyner fell to Indiana's Gabrielle Rubenstein, 6-4, 6-3, at flight six.

In doubles action, Gabb and Gaytan Leach lost a pair of matches, a tight 9-7 loss to Indiana's Kauss and Klyczek and a 8-6 defeat at the hands of Chupa and Rubenstein of Indiana, 8-3. Christensen and Stuhlmann lost to Indiana's Chupa and Rubenstein, 8-6, while Clark and Rhyner fell to Rocio Diaz and Erin Gebes of Marquette, 8-6.

The Tigers conclude play at the Adidas IU Winter Invitational Sunday, Jan. 13.
