Mizzou Faces No. 2 Georgia on Friday

COLUMBIA, Mo . - The Mizzou women's swimming and diving team returns to the pool on Friday, Nov. 9 as the Tigers travel to Athens, Ga., for a 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. CT) clash with No. 2 Georgia. The Tigers and Bulldogs will compete at Gabrielsen Natatorium inside the Ramsey Center.

Mizzou (3-1, 1-1 SEC) is coming off wins Kentucky and SIU and a loss to Arkansas in a tri-meet on Oct. 26 at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. The Tigers earned their first-ever SEC victory with a 164-135 win over Kentucky, defeated SIU 215-84 and fell to Arkansas 197-103.

Senior Cassie Cunningham highlighted the meet with wins in both the 100 back and 50 free. Cunningham swam a 55.33 to earn top honors in the 100 back and had a time of 23.40 in the 50 free. In the diving well, junior Loren Figueroa continued her solid form to place first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 285.70.

Georgia enters the meet 3-0 overall and 2-0 in SEC action. The Bulldogs are coming off a 188-110 victory over Florida on Oct. 25, highlighted by a triple winner Melanie Margalis (100 and 200 breast and 200 IM). Four Lady Bulldogs also claimed two event titles on the day: Allison Schmitt (100 and 200 free), Megan Romano (50 free and 100 back), Amber McDermott (500 and 1000 free) and Laura Ryan (1 and 3-meter dives).

Following the dual with Georgia, the Tigers are idle until they host the Mizzou Invite Nov. 29 - Dec. 1 at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
