Mizzou Finishes 14th at 2012 NCAA Championships

Auburn, Al: The University of Missouri women's swimming and diving team finished 14th at the 2012 NCAA Championships. Mizzou finished with 98 points for their first top 15 finish in the programs history. In route to their best finish ever, the Tigers set seven new team records and had Six NCAA All Americans.

Shara Stafford and Dominique Bouchard again led the way In The final night of competition. Dominique finished up third in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:51.68. Dominique, had her typical strong back half during the race, and just missed matching her 2011 second place finish by a fingernail.

Stafford was up next in the 100 freestyle. Shara moved up one spot in finals with a solid swim in her last individual event of her storied career. Stafford ended up a thee time NCAA All American and was a big part of Mizzou's surge from last years 23rd place finish.

Stafford, Cassie Cunningham, Emily Doucette, and Bouchard were the final competitors of the night in the 400 freestyle relay. Stafford roared to an early lead in the consolation final with a 48.17. Cunningham (49.3), Doucette (49.0), and Bouchard (49.7) finished strong setting the final team record of the meet going 3:16.36 and finishing 12th in the event.

Mizzou's 2012 NCAA First Team All Americans included Dominique Bouchard, Shara Stafford, Lisa Nathanson, Cassie Cunningham, and Emily Doucette. Amanda Masters participation in the 400 Medley Relay earned her Second Team All American status for 2012.
