ATHENS, Ga. - Junior Danielle Barbiea will compete in the A final of Thursday evening's 100 fly finals following day three preliminary action at the 2014 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships. Barbiea became the first Tiger to advance to an A final in the Championships.
Barbiea, who entered the meet with tied for the fastest time in the nation this year, clocked a 52.11 in 100 fly prelims and earn a spot in the championship final. The 52.11 was good enough to place third in the morning session. Sophomore Anna Patterson just missed the A final after a career best swim of 53.23, which placed her ninth and in the B final.
Freshman Michael Chadwick narrowly missed a spot in a championship final in the 200 free but did take down a school record in the process. He placed 10th in prelims with a new program record 1:35.63, besting junior Eegan Groome's previous mark of 1:35.81. Junior Andrew Phillips also qualified for the B final in a personal best 1:36.16, which moved him into third all-time at the event at Mizzou.
The Tigers advanced two men to the B final in the 400 IM. Sophomore Daniel Graviss was Missouri's top prelims finisher in 11th with a swim of 3:48.21, while junior Mack Darragh also moved on with a time of 3:50.66.
On the women's side, freshman Ellie Suek earned a 13th-place finish in the 400 as she earned a spot in the evening B final. Her swim of 4:15.95 was a new career best.
Senior Logan Mosley advanced to his second straight 100 fly B final after a swim of 47.15 in the morning. Last season, Mosley finished 11th in the event. Freshman Andrew Sansoucie made the C final with a personal best 47.53, which moved him into a tie for third on Mizzou's all-time list.
In the women's 200 free, freshman Brittany Hammond notched a time of 1:49.76 to post a new career best.
Day three finals action at the SEC Championships begins Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
