Finn, Hladik Earn SEC Community Service Recognition

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Seniors Sharon Finn and Joe Hladik, members of the Mizzou swimming and diving teams, were named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the SEC office announced on Feb. 14. The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all league-sponsored sports to highlight students who give back to their community with superior effort.

San Antonio, Texas, native Finn is active in the Columbia community in a myriad of organizations. She coordinated a service event for student-athletes at the Tiger Place Independent Living Center, helped make videos for a local elementary school for a literacy week reading initiative, organized a team to help as Columbia Food Bank volunteers, helped the team package gifts at Christmas for the Boys & Girls Club of Columbia and volunteered at an MS 150 Bike-Ride.

Hladik, who hails from Indian Head Park, Ill., is an ever-present face in the Columbia community with numerous volunteer efforts. He is a coordinator and volunteer for the MS Society, a WELLAWARE Boone Hospital Intern, Boys and Girls Club volunteer, Central Missouri Food Bank volunteer, Caleb's Pitch participant and a Special Olympics volunteer. Involved with the MS Society since the fall of 2009, Joe has logged over 50 hours of service with the organization and coordinates volunteer timelines and procedures. Additionally, he has pledged over 50 hours of volunteer hours to Boone Hospital by providing healthcare related resources to patients.
