CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Mizzou women's swimming and diving team split a tri-meet with Kentucky and host SIU Thursday and Friday, Oct. 24-25 in Carbondale, Ill. The Tigers posted a 285-155 win over the Salukis and suffered a narrow 228-218 loss to Kentucky.
Missouri won 12 of 24 total events over the two days, led by freshman Katharine Ross's three wins and two apiece from junior Danielle Barbiea and sophomore Anna Patterson.
The Tigers got the second day started with a first-place showing in the 200 medley relay. Mizzou's A team of junior Emily Doucette, Ross, Danielle Barbiea and junior Kellie Barbiea swam a 1:43.82 to take the win, while the B team of sophomores Madison Bridges and Lauren Stoeckle, senior Lexi Spivak and Patterson took third with a time of 1:45.53.
Ross added event wins in both the 200 IM and 200 breast on Friday, joining her 100 breast win from Thursday. In the 200 IM, the freshman touched in 2:06.81 to take first, ahead of teammate Bridges, who was second in 2:08.18. Ross then claimed first-place in the 200 breast with a swim of 2:18.95 for her third title of the two-day meet. Stoeckle finished in second with a time of 2:20.10.
Danielle Barbiea won the first of two titles on Friday with a victory in the 50 free. She swam a season best 23.15 in the event for the win. She also took top honors in Friday's 100 free with a time of 50.95.
The Tigers closed out the swimming portion of the day with a win in the 200 free relay. Mizzou's top team of Danielle Barbiea, Patterson, Doucette and Ross clocked a time of 1:34.65 to take the victory.
In the diving well, sophomore Lauren Reedy garnered top honors on the 1-meter with a score of 311.40. She also had a second-place finish on the 3-meter on Thursday.
The Tigers return to the pool on Friday, Nov. 1 when the team hosts Texas A&M at 4 p.m. at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
