NCAA Championships - Day One Preliminaries

MINNEAPOLIS - The Mizzou women's swimming and diving team opened action at the 2014 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with preliminary competition Thursday morning at the University Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn.

The Tigers opened the Championships in the 200 free relay, where the team of sophomore Anna Patterson, junior Danielle Barbiea, freshman Brittany Hammond and senior Lexi Spivak finished 27th in a time of 1:30.60. In the opening leg, Patterson got Missouri started with a split of 22.20, a new personal best for the sophomore.

Patterson and Barbiea both competed in the 50 free later in prelims. Patterson took 25th with a time of 22.32, while Barbiea placed 28th in a career best tying 22.42.

In the diving well, sophomore Lauren Reedy tallied a prelims score of 258.50 to finish 26th overall.

The Tigers return to action with day two preliminaries at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 21.
