Bonuchi, Reedy Punch NCAA Championships Tickets

MINNEAPOLIS - Mizzou diving's David Bonuchi and Lauren Reedy each punched tickets to the 2014 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships during day one action Monday at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. Bonuchi, a senior, advanced to NCAAs for the fourth time in his career, while Reedy, a sophomore, will make her first appearance.

The 2014 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships take place March 20-22 in Minneapolis, Minn., while the NCAA Men's Championships will be in Austin, Texas, March 27-29.

Reedy, who hails from Rochester Hills, Mich., placed third on the women's 1-meter with a two-session score of 634.45 to earn her NCAA berth. She qualified for finals after a prelims score of 322.30. In the finals session, Reedy sat in eighth with just three dives remaining. However, she recorded scores of 67.5, 55.9 and 62.4 in her final three dives to finish third and earn her NCAA Championships bid.

Columbia, Mo., native Bonuchi took second on the men's 3-meter with a tally of 858.40. He notched a season best 433.65 points after a prelims score of 424.75 to earn his NCAA bid. Already the most decorated Tiger in program history, Bonuchi will look to add to his eight All-America accolades at the Championships.

Sophomore Clark Thomas advanced to the men's 3-meter finals and earned a seventh-place finish with 784.25 points. His prelims score of 404.60 set a new career best and moved him into third all-time at Mizzou.

Also competing on the 1-meter were redshirt junior Loren Figueroa and junior Lauren Callin. Figueroa advanced to finals and ultimately finished 12th with a prelims and finals total of 570.50. Callin placed 27th with 247.35 points.



The NCAA Zone D Diving Championships continue Tuesday with the men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter competitions.
