Austin, Tex.-- The Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams got off to a solid start in relay and 1 meter diving competition Wednesday night.

After a sendoff by Mizzou parents and fans, the Tigers traveled to the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, where competition began at 6:00 pm. 

In the first heat of the women's 200 medley relay, the A team of Cassie CunninghamAmanda MastersEmy DiBenigno and Lisa Nathanson took fourth place in 1:39.97.

Participating in the second heat, the B team of Dominique BouchardRachel Ripley, Lexi Spivak and Francie Szostak cruised to victory (placing seventh overall in the tournament) with a 1:40.31 finish. In the third heat, Missouri's C team placed second (and ninth overall) in 1:44.53.

In the first heat of the women's 800 free relay, Missouri's Stephanie RovigFrancie SzostakDominique Bouchard, and Lauren Lavigna claimed third place with a 7:10.02 finish.

The Tigers will resume competition tomorrow morning, as prelims begin at 10:00 am and finals resume at 6:00 pm Thursday.
