Columbia, Mo. - The No. 10 University of Missouri Tigers fell to the No. 23 University of Minnesota Gophers in a dual meet on Senior Night by a score of 171-129. Despite a disappointing loss, the women's swimming and diving team saw success in many events.
Two Missouri relay teams placed in the top three in the 200 yard medley relay. The team of Cassie Cunningham, Amanda Masters, Tasha Truscott, and Shara Stafford placed first with a time of 1:42.76. The team of Dominique Bouchard, Courtney Rhodenbaugh, Lexi Spivak, and Emily Doucette finished third in 1:43.64.
In the 200 yard freestyle, senior Shara Stafford placed first with a time of 1:46.97 and continued her first place streak. Stafford also finished first in the 100 yard butterfly in 54.48. Tiger Bouchard saw success in two backstroke events. Bouchard finished second in the 100 yard backstroke in 55.48 and placed first in the 200 yard backstroke event in 1:58.56.
Missouri swept the 50 yard freestyle event with Tigers placing in all top three spots. Emily Doucette placed first in 23.59, followed by Lisa Nathanson in second with 23.62, and Cunningham in third with a time of 23.69.
The Tigers also saw success in the diving pool. In the 3 mtr diving event two Missouri divers placed in the top three with Jordan Morcom taking first with 345.38 points and Christina Gailey finishing third with 310.50 points. Two Mizzou divers also placed in the top three in the 1 mtr diving event. Morcom took second with 278.40 points and Sharon Finn placing third with 274.28 points.
