COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri sophomore Jenna Marston has earned one of the 20 available spots on the USA Baseball Women’s National Team, as announced Thursday evening by USA Baseball.  The 2010 squad, which features nine returners from 2008 and 11 newcomers, will compete in the upcoming 2010 International Baseball Federation (IBAF) World Cup from Aug. 12-22.

Marston spent the last four days practicing and competing in intersquad games with 31 other athletes in an attempt to make this year’s roster.  Playing for the Red Team, Marston went 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and two RBI in her first game, leading the Red Team to an 8-4 victory over the Blue Team.  The Blue Team took game two 6-0, though Marston ripped her second double in as many games in her lone at bat.  The Red Team dominated the Blue Team in the third game by a 17-5 score, though a box score was not available at the time of print.

The USA Baseball Women’s National Team will play two exhibitions against Australia and two exhibitions against the Southern Stars over the next several days in Cary, N.C., at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.  The team will then travel to Venezuela on Tuesday, Aug. 10.
