COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Softball has announced the signing of former Jefferson College (Hillsboro, Mo.) slugger Anna Reed, who earned All-America honors in 2014 after batting .493 with team bests in home runs (16), doubles (23) and slugging percentage (.876).

Reed's standout freshman campaign for the Vikings and head coach Tony Cook last season was significant on a national level, as she led the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I with 96 RBI. Her offensive performance helped lead Jefferson College throughout a strong season, culminating in a regional championship and 53-14 final record.

"We are very excited to have Anna join our program here at Missouri," head coach Ehren Earleywine said. "She is someone with the type of ability and work ethic that will fit in well at this level of college softball. We're eager to get started with Anna here in Columbia in the fall."

Reed picked up her First Team All-America accolades in the outfield from both the NJCAA and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). She also earned the NJCAA national office's Marucci Elite Hitter Award, which is presented to the All-America nominee from each district with the highest batting average.

A native of Lonedell, Mo., Reed was an imposing force during her high school career at St. Clair High School for head coach Rob Hauck. She batted .577 with 37 RBI and 37 runs scored as a senior in 2013. She hit for power, with 18 of her 41 hits (in 71 at-bats) going for extra bases, smacking 11 doubles, four triples and three home runs. She also showed off her speed, recording 23 stolen bases. Reed was a three-time first team all-conference honoree and two-time first team all-district selection.

"It's just really exciting," Reed said. "Growing up in Missouri, I've been a fan of Mizzou Softball since I was really young. It's great to think I'll be playing for Coach Earleywine and for Mizzou, since this is a team that I've seen on TV. I went to their camps when I was little. It's so cool to think that I'll actually be playing there."
