Columbia, Mo. - Missouri Softball Head Coach Ehren Earleywine announced today that former Volunteer Assistant Pete D'Amour has been named an Assistant Softball Coach for the upcoming 2009-10 campaign. Throughout the course of the 2009 season, D'Amour called pitches and worked with the Tiger catchers as Missouri made its fourth ever trip to the Women's College World Series.

"We are excited about hiring Pete and look forward to what he will bring to our staff," Earleywine said. "He has a great understanding of the game and does a nice job with recruiting."

D'Amour has been a member of the Tiger softball staff for three years, throwing batting practice and overseeing the managers in addition to his pitching and catching coaching responsibilities. D'amour also served as the lead hitting instructor for the 2009 Doug Gillis summer camp in Midland, Mich.

Missouri's 2009 pitching staff turned in the ninth best ERA in the nation (1.47), while senior right-handed hurler Stacy Delaney closed out her final campaign with a 1.32 ERA, good enough for 17th best in the country. Tallying 10 solo shutouts, newcomer Chelsea Thomas' mark stood 19th in the nation. Additionally, Delaney and Thomas combined for three no hitters in 2009.

"I would like to thank Mr. (Mike) Alden and Mr. (Tim) Hickman for giving me the opportunity to keep Missouri softball moving in the direction we want to take it," D'Amour said. "There are many other people I would like to thank but I'd be remise if I didn't mention my parents and Coach Earleywine for the insights he's given me thus far, on and off the field. I look forward to many successful trips to the World Series in the near future."

A native of Monrovia, Maryland, D'Amour graduated from Mizzou in 2008 with a general studies degree. D'Amour has played men's fastpitch for the past eight years and was the Most Valuable Player of the NSA World Series in 2007.
