Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri softball team recorded one of its best showings in program history, not only on the field, but in the classroom. Combining for a 3.37 grade-point average, this marks the highest team GPA for the softball squad since the start of the program in 1975. The previous team-best, recorded in 2006, was set at 3.33.
Eighteen members of Missouri's 20-woman roster recorded above a 3.0 GPA with 12 individuals named to the Dean's List. Andee Allen (Barnhart, Mo.), Missouri's starting second baseman, rounded our her junior campaign with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
A total of five Tiger softball players, Allen, Katie Milles (St. Louis, Mo.), Amanda Renth (Mascoutah, Ill.), Gina Schneider (Liberty, Mo.) and Julie Silver (Chesterfield, Mo.) were awarded first team academic All-Big 12 honors. The honor is the third of Renth's career and second of Allen's. Members of the first team have maintained a 3.20 grade-point average or better. A total of 54 individuals received Academic All-Big 12 honors, with 40 women named to the first team and 14 to the second team. Missouri had the second-most individuals of the Big 12 conference named to the first team.
