NCAA Super Regional Central

COLUMBIA, Mo. - For the first time in the history of the program, the Missouri softball team will play host to the NCAA Super Regional round.  The No. 9 seed Tigers will take on the Ducks from Oregon in a best-of-three series, starting with game one on Saturday, May 29 at 1:30 p.m. CT.

Game two will take place at Noon on Sunday, with the third game starting immediately after at 2:30 p.m., if necessary.  The games will be aired on the ESPN family, with the specific station to be determined.

The Tigers advance to the Super Regional for the third consecutive season after winning the Columbia Regional on Sunday.  Mizzou used a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Creighton on Friday before defeating Illinois 3-1 on Saturday, setting up a 4-2 victory over the Illini again on Sunday to clinch the title.  Missouri looks to return to the Women's College World Series (WCWS) for the second straight year.

The Oregon Ducks, unseeded in postseason play but ranked No. 20 nationally, come to Columbia after winning the Atlanta Regional.  The Ducks won their first game, 1-0, over Auburn, and upset No. 8 seed Georgia Tech by run-rule in their second game by an 11-2 final.  Oregon and Georgia Tech faced off again in the finals, with the Ducks picking up a 4-3 win in extra innings.

Missouri and Oregon have played each other three times in the past, with the Tigers holding a slight 2-1 edge.  Last season, Mizzou picked up an 8-7 win in nine innings at last year's San Diego Classic.  Stay tuned to throughout the week for more information.
